ENRICHING SENIORS' LIVES...

The Manistee County Council on Aging (MCCOA) is an organization that serves all senior citizens regardless of income or ability. The MCCOA was organized in 1971 and operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by a voter-approved millage. The council works to keep senior citizens socialized and independent by providing a variety of programs and activities to Manistee County residents over the age of 60.

As the senior population grows, the MCCOA’s mission of promoting quality of life and independence by addressing unique needs and challenges is becoming more vital than ever. The wealth of talent that Manistee County sees in the senior population is something that many find as a valuable resource. Senior citizens bring with them a lifetime of experiences that are invaluable to solving today's complex problems. Clearly, the contribution of the senior population in Manistee County alone deserves the continuing support of the entire community.

The MCCOA is housed in the Wagoner Community Center, located on Manistee’s northside. Every weekday, the Senior Center hosts a variety of programs and activities. The Senior Center also serves as a congregate meal site for the Senior Nutrition program and lunch is served daily, Monday through Friday.
