Senior Services Reimbursement Program – Chore Services

This program reimburses senior citizens for services that generally are required in order to help maintain independence. Examples: providing transportation, lawn care, snow removal and light housekeeping.

The Manistee County Council on Aging Board of Directors has revised its homemaker and home chore services to better serve all Manistee County senior citizens. MCCOA hopes these changes will enable us to make our programs more efficient, allowing us assist a much larger number of senior citizens throughout a wider service area.

The board unanimously decided that MCCOA will reimburse Manistee County senior citizens (those 60 and older) up to $40 monthly in total for any homemaker, chore and transportation services that seniors obtain on their own from their own suppliers. Reimbursements will be processed twice monthly as part of the normal MCCOA bill paying cycle, and reimbursement requests will be processed on a first-in, first-out basis.

The program will be made available to all Manistee County residents 60 years or older with certain income requirements. The program went into effect on June 1, 2014.
